Higher education plays a pivotal role in the promotion and support of an innovation economy here in Vermont. To provide access to a corps of professionals, trained interns, and collegiate resources, VCET has established strategic a strategic affiliation with UVM and critical relationships with 8 other Vermont colleges and universities located throughout the State.
Entrepreneur benefits from this collegiate network are too many to list, but today include:
Student Consulting Teams - Middlebury College’s MiddCOREplus and Norwich University run semester long consulting projects where student led teams partner with entrepreneurs to create, innovate, and implement their ideas. Student Interns - Johnson State College, Champlain College, and Middlebury College among others have internship programs for their students to work with entrepreneurs. Incubators - Lyndon State College's Incubator without Walls supports businesses in the Derby-Newport area. The Vermont Tech Enterprise Center, operated by Vermont Technical College, is a business incubator located in central Vermont specifically designed with flexible leases and a unique mix of space and services to support growth companies. Faculty & Researchers - Some of the most capable people on the planet teach, research and live here in Vermont. This can be a great resource for entrepreneurs to access when appropriate. Collaboration opportunities include networking for technical assistance, joint research and development, grant applications, interns, and as advisory board members. |
